Tim O'Hara (Museum Victoria, Australia) and his team have been awarded substantial funds from the Census of Marile Life COSMOS Prize fund for a project to "Map the fauna on the seafloor".  At the outset of INDEEP, this was one of the main goals for this working group so members are delighted to have been awarded funds to get them started with this vision.

This project seeks to map biogeographic assemblages for two major taxonomic groups, brittle-stars and squat lobsters.  Outputs from the project will see comprehensive global datasets of marine distributional data that can be imported into OBIS for these two taxonomic groups, a map of benthic faunal composition across the globe, and scientific papers relating to these outputs.
